Logroño hosted a European
Seminar to train in the work of Including people with disabilities through art
“Art for Inclusion”
From the 02/04/2018 until
the 09/04/2018, Asociación Juvenil Teatral ON&OFF, hosted a European
seminar, financed by the Erasmus+ programme, to train youth volunteers towards
the inclusion of people with disabilities through art “Art for Inclusion.”
“Art
for Inclusion” is a project financed by the Key action 1 programme of Erasmus+
of the European Commission that brought together 7 organisations dedicated to
the inclusion of people with disabilities using theatre tools. It involved the
participation of 22 professionals from 6 different countries, coordinated by
Asociación Juvenil Teatral ON&OFF (Spain), with the cooperation of ARSIDO
(The Riojana Association for Down Syndrome) and Dinámica Teatral and
organisations from Bulgaria, Cyprus, Italy, Ireland and Portugal.
This
seminar allowed for representatives from each entity to share their work in
Artistic involvement programmes. They took part in a calendar of activities
designed to share new skills and to develop the competences of planning and
facilitating inclusive artistic programmes, especially through theatre and
dance; to promote the use of these abilities on a transnational level and to
develop the local community. Additionally, the programme had the objective to
broaden the possibilities of financing and transnational cooperation of these
organisations thanks to the activities related to give visibility and to get to
know programmes of Erasmus+ and other places to facilitate the work of
networking between them.
Therefore,
this allowed for them to not only create synergies between the organisations
and their personnel to create educative projects that involve young people from
different countries, but also to increase the technical capacity to coordinate
and management between each other.
On
Friday the 6th of April, they went to the Institution IRJ in Logroño to meet
with representatives of the Riojana Government. In this same day, they visited
the local organisations: Dinámica Teatral and La Casa de Tomasa.
To
reinforce the work of networking on an international level and to improve as
well at a local level, during the seminar, the professional participants went
to the Teatro Ideal in Calahorra at 8pm on Saturday the 7th of
April, to watch the gestural theatre performance “Gesticulate” created by one
of the inclusive theatre groups of ARSIDO.
